Sherlock Holmes: A Review

Just like Charlie Chaplin, Sherlock Holmes is an iconic British character known worldwide for his intellectual prowess who inspired many other characters. While if you’ll read any of the Sherlock Holmes stories, you may get the impression that he’s the kind of person who can solve all mysteries without kicking any ass, Buy Wellbutrin SR Online Pharmacy No Prescription Needed relying purely on his astute observations, and likes to dress up elegantly and is by and large, neat and clean, that is not the case with Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes. He’s more like a Daniel Craig style James Bond who can kick and punch when required, is extremely unhygienic, but still has the same mental prowess and can draw extraordinary conclusions by mere observations. (He keeps showing off throughout the film too.)

The Cast:If a film stars Robert Downey Jr, you can be sure of one thing: you will not be bored. I am big fan of RDJ  (and genuinely feel he should have got his Oscar in 1992 for playing Chaplin.). RDJ plays Guy Ritchie’s Holmes and doesn’t disappoint. He epitomizes the fact that one doesn’t have to be British to play a British Character. After watching him, you cannot imagine any other person playing Holmes so well. He naturally looks untidy, has a certain ruggedness about him, is vulnerable and always looks in control. The chemistry between him and Jude Law is simply natural and they look like they are the best of buddies even off screen. Jude Law looks good as Dr Watson, only he doesn’t seem like a doctor. As for Rachel McAdams, no one kamagra online else could be Irene Adler, Sherlock Holme’s love interest from “A Scandal in Bohemia”.

The Plot and the screenplay: It is almost unbelievable that this isn’t out of some actual Arthur Conan Doyle story because it always feels Buy voltarol like one. Sherlock Holmes is basically investigating the case of a dead man who has resurrected using black magic. I’ll say there is nothing new about such plots but still the suspense (along with Rachel McAdams) keeps you riveted to your seat as the final piece of the puzzle is found in the last sequence. The screenplay is great, full of action and comical dialogues which reminds one of “The Mummy”. The director does a gre Viagra generika at job at creating the atmosphere of a 19th century London. 1. Although I haven’t watched the movie, I’m still doubtful whether RDJ would be able to reproduce the prowess of Jeremy Brett. Brett’s acting in the TV series was almost exactly as I had pictured Holmes in my mind while reading the books.

  2. Well this is certainly not the Sherlock Holmes as probably anyone has ever pictured in their minds. It’s a recreation of the character. He’s still intelligent but his personality is vastly different from the one portrayed in the writings of Arthur Conan Doyle.

As for comparisons, well I haven’t seen the other Holmes but I think this one has such a different personality that it may be as good as comparing chalk with cheese.

PS: Yesterday I read Scandal in Bohemia again. It turns out that Holmes actually is a cocaine addict. I had no clue.
