How I lost 9 Kgs in 2 months

Disclaimer: The following post is simply an account of what I personally did to lose weight. It should in no way be treated as medical advice and may not even work in your case. So if you are going to follow the routines I mention in the post, you yourself will be solely responsible for your acts.

Now that I have covered my ass against possible lawsuits, let me begin.

1.Dieting: Now I have heard it a zillion times that one must not diet in order to lose weight and that one should eat 4-5 healthy meals a day. Now I am not sure how the latter possibly helps in losing weight, but that’s certainly not what I did. I did dieting. But let me explain exactly what I mean. Earlier I used to have 3-4 meals everyday and each of them used to be full of

  • 2-3 paranthas, per meal. Ok it was 3-4 paranthas per meal
  • maggi,
  • pizzas,
  • burgers…
  • chowmein
  • pattis
  • Rice every alternate day.
  • Bread and butter
  • egg maggi with butter

My new diet plan consisted of the following. For the first month:

  • Breakfast: 2 Dry bread slices with a cup of tea.
  • Lunch: 2 dry rotis with some sabji. (Any sabji is fine.)
  • Evening meals generally consisted of salad.
  • Dinner: 2 dry rotis with some sabji again or simply oats in skimmed milk

As you can figure easily, earlier I was eating like a pig and now I was eating a normal Indian meal which aam aadmi has every day. So I drastically reduced my intake but never starved myself even for a day. The body adapted itself with time but I must confess that on 1 occassion, I did feel a little dizzy. Naturally this was not optimum so I increased my intake slightly. So now my diet was as follows:

  • Breakfast: Omelette made with 2 egg whites only (It is important to throw out the yolk since it is a source of fat) or a parantha or maggi along with a cup of tea.
  • Lunch: 2-3 dry rotis with sabji.
  • Evening: Subway Chicken salad or 2-3 boiled egg whites or tomatoe soup.
  • Dinner:2-3 rotis with sabji or 1 roti with sabji (When I had subway chicken salad), or simply oat meal.

The above diet is what I follow to this day. Occasionally I do indulge myself, I will say.
2. Exercise: No crunches, no gym, no sit ups. I just put my walkman on and for the first 10 days, walked for half an hour in my track park. Then I started slow jogging every day. Eventually I took to cycling. Although my jogging stamina hasn’t increased by much, my cycling stamina has increased considerably. I can now easily cycle for 15-16 kms (if the path is completely plain but otherwise about 12). I have taken 3-4 trips till IIT on bicycle which is about 7 kms one way.

And that’s pretty much what I did to lose as much weight in 2 months. Once again, I did not really follow any medical advice but did what I felt I had to do. I am still analyzing results and eventually I may ballon again. So far though, I am happy with the results.  Still need to lose another 5 kgs though. Iwas 88 and now I am 79. I need to be less than 75. The battle is on.

Awesome and inspirational! I’ve been doing the same with my meals, but there is a severe lack of exercise. Cheers and keep it going.

    Thank you guys.

@Abhimanyu: Not sure why you need to curb your intake. You’ve been eating to survive since a long time now. As for the exercise, we all give one excuse for not exercising(At least I do in my case): “I have so much work that I do not get the time”.

However, the truth is that time can be stolen very easily. So you can give it a shot. (If that is your reason for not exercising ie)
