Dude Where’s My Country?

An innocuous looking picture of 2 girls asking Virat Kohli for a one night stand became very popular in India on a social network. Predictably, the comments ranged from a simple haha to about the looks of the chicks. And that was fine. In between those comments, some jingoistic idiots kept expressing their outrage about how one of the girls was covering her legs with the national flag and thereby insulting it. I think I found this objection, objectionable. This is exactly what is wrong with this country. So she covered her legs with the flag. So what you morons? It’s not the end of the world. Grow the fuck up. One retard, went as far as saying “just kill her”. I felt like reporting him.

An American friend of mine once asked me if the cast system in India was for real. I told him yeah it was and in the rural areas they even kill for it. Now I wonder if that sick mentality of the small towns will creep into the subconscious of urban India as the access to the internet multiplies. Or perhaps I am wrong. Perhaps I am being an urban snob. Perhaps, there is not much difference between an urban Indian and a rural one. We all kill the girl child. And we make dowry calculators on facebook. (sigh)

One can only hope that our minds will be liberated when we constantly see objectionable things and start to learn to live with them.

The world will be a much better place if we all simply just fucking mind our own business.

2/2/12

I have now played lawn Tennis for a total of 3 days. I must say it’s a rather hard game to play but is a lot of fun at the same time. Me and Tennis partner, though are a very lazy bunch of guys. What ought to have been a very difficult and exhausting game is proving easier than Badminton (thanks only to the way we play.) Nevertheless, I like it more than badminton. No fucking wind can blow a ball away. My wrist is really hurting. I wonder if there is also a Tennis wrist syndrome since my elbow certainly seems fine.

Anyway, tomorrow I may not be able to go since I need to go to Ashwin’s place. Feel like taking a bath right now but it’s 3:30 am here. I should be going to sleep but am hungry. Oh and by the way, I am extremely inspired by Code Academy and am thinking of taking it one step further (Yeah right :P ). If you are a UI/UX expert then do get in touch. I have everything in my mind conceptually. In fact, I can do without the UX guy but UI will be important. Needs a graphics artist with some awesome skill.

PS: Saw Ra One the other day. I am happy I did not go to the theatres to watch it. I was very disappointed with the film. It was a B movie. A wasted opportunity but thanks only to the super talentless director. Kanti Shah might have done a better job. Prior to this, I was a big SRK (the person’s) fan. Not anymore.
